My physician told me to take fish oil. Is there a certain kind I need?
Yes, a high quality fish oil! Most contain 1000-1200mg by weight but the actual amount of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, DHA and EPA, can vary tremendously. I have seen as little as 80mg of DHA per capsule and as high as 500mg per capsule, obviously a significant difference! 240mg or higher is a good dosage, and if it doesn’t say the exact amount of DHA on the label find another brand. Another major consideration with fish oil is the amounts of heavy metals and PCB’s it contains. Many of the cheaper brands do not purify the fish oil as well and end up with high amounts of heavy metals and PCB’s that could negate many of the beneficial effects of the fish oil itself. The Omega-3's in Fish oil have amazing anti-inflammatory effects, and they help protect your heart and your brain!
